What's on my phone?

As a person with a disability, I rely on my iPhone  13 Pro Max and desktop computer. These tools are essential, yet I have a complicated relationship with them—they are both incredibly helpful and occasionally overwhelming.

, My screen time is much higher than I’d like to admit.
Here are the personal rules I follow to manage my technology use, which I sometimes modify based on my current life situation.
These are the main ways and the reasons why I put my tech use rules into practice:
#1 No phone in the bedroom after dark
From Headspace’s website: “Dr. Adrian Williams, professor of sleep medicine, says, ‘the influence of light on hormonal responses is minimal in the day, but maximal in the evening when it may suppress melatonin secretion and delay sleep.’ Save that blue light for when there’s also natural light.”
I already have a clock in my room.  By that time, I need to sleep.
#2 No web browser on my phone. It helps me with my focus, as I have ADHD. I used to fall down rabbit holes, googling random things that popped into my head for hours and hours. Okay, I might be exaggerating, but you get my point.

#3 No YouTube on my phone. YouTube is my worst time suck, but it’s also my source of new ideas and entertainment. But it’s healthier for me not have the app on my phone.
#4 No social media/mainstream news outlets on my phone. I used to really enjoy Facebook and the news, and while I try to keep somewhat up to date, too much social media is really unhealthy for the body, mind, and soul.
#5 No more ChatGPT. I’m now more skeptical of AI chatbots. Call me old-fashioned or backwards-thinking. Now, Grammarly uses AI, but not all AI is created equal.
#6 yes to Kindle Unlimited, Audible, and podcasts if I’m going to use my phone for entertainment. I would rather listen to or read excellent content, not TikTok (my own  ADHD nightmare), such as podcasts, ebooks, comics, and audiobooks. However, I can do a better job at self-control.
#7 The YouVersion Bible app  is handy when I go to church, but
I have a hard copy of the bible  in my room (NIV)
#8 Apple Notes is very helpful for me for writing down blog ideas

That's pretty much it. I want to stress that I’m not perfect; my screen time is higher than I'd like.I'm working on that
Hope you take something away from this post
Don’t forget to be Awesome.
